After a few days of race-prep, wrenching, and (depending who you ask) a bit of R&R, the DCC race crew arrived at Road America, in beautiful Elkhart Lake Wisconsin. Here they would make their stand in round 6 of the AHRMA Road Racing championship. After putting the skills and lessons learned last year on the 4 mile 14 turn track to the test, it was clear that our boys mean business. The proof was in the pudding!
Saturday
During Saturday’s events, Scott Turner maintaned his personal challenge for podium finishes, taking 3rd in LeMans 2nd in Sportsman 350, and scored the top tier podium in the hotly contested Sportsman 500 class.
Jim Korn and George Hernandez claimed victory in their own right by improving on their results from the weekend in Michigan. Jim finished 4th in the Lightweight Production class, and 3rd in the Heavyweight division. George meanwhile clinched a hard fought 5th place in Vintage Superbike.
Sunday
Sunday arrived with overcast skies, setting the tone for a tremendous battle in the 160 Lemans class between a determined Scott Turner, and Greg Glevicky, the current 2016 LeMans Champion. While Greg ultimately took the checkered flag, it was a textbook example of great classic racing among friends, and what the sport is really all about. Scott wrapped up his podium weekend with a respectable 2nd in the Sportsman 350, and yet another 1st place victory in the Sportsman 500.
Jim Korn successfully concluded his weekend with a strong finish, grabbing 1st in the Lightweight division and 3rd in Heavyweight Production. George righteously maintained his 5th place in the Vintage Superbike class.
Coming off impressive back to back racing weekends, the DCC Crew has now set their sights on New Jersey in July. We welcome all comers to have fun and join in the palpable camaraderie. Helping hands, and thoughtful advice flow freely amongst the teams, but make no mistake, when the flag drops we’re there to win.
