Fear and Loathing Over ICE’s Enforcement Push

During a five-day operation, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents arrested more than 200 undocumented immigrants and served inspection notices to more than 100 businesses. Most of those arrested were criminals, according to a statement by ICE, but a lot of LA residents were still in an uproar after the news was announced, taking to the streets in protest and in one instance, trying to block an ICE van from leaving the city. Across the country, statements by President Donald Trump and Attorney General Jeff Sessions have made immigration activists wary and undocumented immigrants scared as the Administration’s crackdown on illegal immigrants continues. ICE, the agency responsible for enforcing that policy, gets 65 percent negative sentiments online, with many social media users begging ICE to put an end to what they see as madness. –Hugo Guzman
