J.Crew 484 Chinos

the story

J-Crew’s been slinging office wear since 1983, starting with classic fine-knit polos and twill suits from catalogs — yes, people use to order things through catalogs. Since then, J-Crew has come a long way.

Today, they sell every office fashion item you could ever want or need. Plus, they produce their garments with the same fabric mills and craftsmen as brands like Red Wing and Timex.

why we like it

At The Hustle, we’re big believers in the age old adage, “If you look good, you feel good.” That’s not to say we’re all running around dressed to the nines everyday, but we like nice things. And J-Crew’s Stretch Chinos are nice things we can get behind.

When you pick clothing typically you go by fit, fabric, and style in that order. The J-Crew chinos score in all three categories.

The slim-fit looks modern and the added stretch makes biking in these pants a breeze. The chinos also come in 7 colors and many different lengths, which is awesome if you’re tall. Overall, these blend good style with functionality at a very reasonable price. Ch-yes!

the competition

There’s a lot of places you can get a pair of chinos — and we won’t stop you from looking. For a good pair of work-ready pants, we’d also recommend the slightly more-expensive Banana Republic Aiden Slim Chino or the Zara Chintz trousers for a more fashion-forward look.

However, we chose the J-Crew chinos overall for their balance of fashion, style, and price.

Ch-ch-ch-chino!
