Men’s Roles in a Non-Patriarchal Social Structure

On a recent Friday conversation with the GMP publisher, Lisa Hickey, we talked about Power and what would happen if the patriarchal power structures were dismantled. It would affect all our relationships at home and in the workplace.

Everything we rely on to define who we are and our position within each structure would change. And what changes on the outside, changes on the inside. Who are we and how do we see ourselves? Based on those answers, our relationships undergo a re-evaluation and a re-invention.

One new suggested paradigm is where power, aggression, and domination will be replaced with collaboration and gender equality. A system where power is given, not taken, and collaboration replaces competition.

♦

We want to hear your point of view:

When did you become aware of Power and how did it affect you then and subsequently?

In your life, how have you been aware of and used your Power? Did it include aggression and domination? How did it make you feel?

In organizations and systems where Power is taken, voices are often stilled for conformation and adherence to the culture. How has that affected you? What, where, or how do you find your authentic voice?
