The Southeast

Chattanooga, Tennessee

Chattanooga is one big playground for families. Enjoy the Incline Railway, Rock City, Creative Discovery Museum and more in this nearby, tourist friendly city.

Tuscaloosa, Alabama

The land of crimson and “Roll Tide” is just a three-hour drive from Atlanta and offers lots of kid-friendly fun. Take a road trip to this classic, college town and experience why people stay there for more than four years.

Athens, Georgia

You may think Athens is a town exclusively for college students, but there’s more to it than football and late-night study sessions. On our visit, we discovered fun playgrounds, nature trails and other kid-friendly things to do.

Birmingham, Alabama

Just a few hours west of Atlanta, travel to the “Magic City” for the weekend. Enjoy walking through Sloss Furnaces, picnicking at Vulcan Park, taking a photo at the color tunnel.

Destin, Florida

This beach community is a sparkling jewel on the Emerald Coast. The beach, of course, and daily dips in the Gulf are the big draw. Nature lovers will want to visit Henderson Beach State Park for wildlife-watching, an easy hike or a picnic.

Nashville, Tennessee

Music City, AKA Nashville, is full of fun, history and good eats. It’s an easy four-hour drive from metro Atlanta. Make sure not to miss Adventure Science Center, Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, Loveless Café.

Asheville, North Carolina

Nature abounds in Asheville –and it’s an easy three-hour drive from Atlanta. Don’t miss these things to do on your next visit.

Legoland Florida

There’s more to Orlando than just that magical mouse – or Harry Potter. Legoland‘s relaxed, family-friendly fun was the elixir needed to mend past theme park damages.

Disney World’s Fantasyland with Toddlers

New Fantasyland, the largest expansion to the Magic Kingdom theme park in decades, goes beyond the walls of Cinderella’s Castle and brings the other Disney princesses into the park.
